Students | Upper School

The Upper School at the International Academy of Flint consists of students in grades 7-12. Upper School students are involved in special programs designed to increase their involvement in the school community and to promote character education and academics. Some of these programs include:

Accelerated Reader (AR): Through S.T.A.R. testing at the beginning of each year teachers are made aware of their students’ reading abilities and thus can assist then in choosing books at the appropriate level.

AP Courses: We offer Advanced Placement courses in Literature and Composition, American Government, Calculus, World History, and Spanish. After completing these classes, our students have the opportunity to take an Advanced Placement test giving our students a jump-start on their college education.

Leadership Opportunities: Our students are given every opportunity to take a leadership role in our school. Most of the after-school dances and similar activities are completely planned and executed by the student body. The students are encouraged to take an active role in any activity that they wish to see implemented at the school. This empowerment helps the students grow as leaders not only in their school, but in their community.
